How to clean the wheel arches, rims and tires?

Wheels are an often overlooked part of the car. The lining dirt, in addition to affecting the aesthetic appearance, seriously affects the painting of the rim in the long run. Both the spokes and the inner rim of the rim must be cleaned regularly.

PHASE 1 - Tire and wheel arch cleaning:

The wheel arches must be clean to avoid the accumulation of dirt and to give greater prominence to the wheel unit.
Whether they are covered in plastic, carpeted or exposed sheet metal, the procedure is always the same:

Spray the detergent
on the area to be treated, it is left to act 30s / 1 minute and then cleaned with the help of a brush .
Rinse with a jet of water to permanently remove the dirt and the mud.
If a thorough cleaning is necessary, the car will have to be raised or the wheels removed.

It is also necessary to clean the shoulder of the tires thoroughly, using a specific detergent and a brush .
This will allow the subsequent application of a black rubber , making it last longer.

PHASE 2 - Cleaning circles:

The cleaning of the external spokes can be done with a special agent for circles , combined with a brush , if the circles are not excessively dirty, or are delicate, you can use water and shampoo or dry clean (Waterless )

The internal channel must be cleaned with a specific brush such as Profipolish Gentle Brush The detergent is sprayed between the spokes and scrubbed with the brush.
It is important to use a sprayer or water hose to rinse the rim well.

After washing the rim, it is advisable to dry it well with a microfiber cloth such as Profipolish Orange Twister JR . in order to avoid the formation of limescale stains.

NOTE: When purchasing rim cleaner, pay attention to the chemical formulation of the product.
Acid-based products are very potent, but tend to oxidize the aluminum and the lining powder.
They are therefore not recommended on polished rims and are absolutely to be avoided on raw aluminum rims (without clear lens). On this type of rims we advise you to use a more delicate alkaline-based detergent.
We also recommend using the microfibre cloth only and exclusively for drying the rim, so avoid using it for other tasks such as bodywork, glasses etc ...
