What is the difference between ceramic protective and nanotech sealants?

WHAT ARE SEALANTS AND CERAMICS (NANOTECHNOLOGICAL SEALANTS).

Sealants and ceramics are professional products that protect the vehicle from atmospheric agents and create a high-performance water-repellent effect.
These products can be water-based ( SC0 Hydro Sealant ) to provide high protection even from acid rain, or alcoholic ( SC1 Sealant ) to simplify its application.

The effectiveness of a sealant lasts up to 5 months, which can be increased up to 9 through the correct combination and maintenance using W1 Quick detailer and H20 Coat .

On the other hand, ceramics, also called nanotechnological sealants, make it possible to achieve solutions that were unthinkable until a few years ago, they guarantee protection up to 60,000 km or 60 automatic washing cycles, but their application requires more experience and more time.
The result, however, is definitely worth the wait.

WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO USE SEALANTS AND CERAMICS.

The use of sealants and ceramics is required when you want to create a decidedly more durable and highly water-repellent protective barrier than the use of classic waxes with Carnauba and when you want to minimize the formation of residues and imperfections on the bodywork by giving greater shine and brighter reflections.

Furthermore, all the surfaces of our vehicles, however smooth they may appear, are actually pitted with infinite pores, just like our skin.
In this case the action of a ceramic product / nanotechnology allows us to fill these cavities, obtaining a really smooth surface, increasing its solidity and performance.

HOW TO USE THE SEALANTS: WATER-BASED AND ALCOHOL-BASED SEALANT SPRAY WITH MICROFIBER.

The water-based Innovacar sealant ( SC0 Hydro Sealant ) is easier to use than standard ceramics on the market, because it does not require special attention when applying it and dries very slowly , allow anyone to achieve great performance.
It is also an excellent product after applying a ceramic to protect it from acid rain, being water based.

But how does it apply? Before discovering it, we reveal that the secret to obtaining the best result is a uniform application and careful buffing work, so as not to leave traces of product at the end of the job.
Here is a step by step procedure:

    1. Prepare a clean microfiber cloth and 2-3 buffing and final finishing cloths to be replaced each time the cloth is soaked in product.
    2. Spray 2 doses of sealant on the microfiber Micron App and two on the section to be treated, then proceeding with a lens, first vertical passes and then horizontal by sections of about 40 × 40 cm.
    3. Wipe the surface after 10 seconds with the cloth or the long side of the microfiber, to even out the application until any excess is removed.
    4. In case of excess product on the section, we suggest to replace the cloth or to use D2 Check to remove the excess in the first minutes of application.
    5. Wait at least one hour (drying time) before using the vehicle and at least 7 hours (cure time) before washing

The alcohol-based sealant ( SC1 Sealant ) allows an equally simple but faster application, thanks to shorter drying times.

    1. Prepare a microfiber applicator micron app clean and 2-3 cloths micron buffing , for buffing, and the final finish to be replaced every time the cloth is soaked in product.
    2. Proceed in sections of about 40 × 40 cm.
Spray 2 doses of sealant on the Micron Up cloth and two on the section, then proceeding with slow passes first vertical and then horizontal, in order to cover the surface evenly.
    3. Wipe the surface after 10 seconds with the cloth or the long side of the microfiber, to even out the application until any excess is removed.
    4. In case of excess product on the section, we recommend replacing the Microfibre cloth.
    5. Wait at least 1 hour (drying time) before using the vehicle and at least 7 hours (cure time) before washing.

HOW TO USE NANOTECHNOLOGICAL SEALANTS (CERAMICS).

The question of how to properly apply a quartz or glass coating is very popular all over the world, by both professional detailers and DIY enthusiasts. While each coating has its own characteristics and needs, there are many similarities and the foundation can be applied at all levels, regardless of brand. For this demonstration, we at Car-Care.it have chosen to use the popular UltraCoat One. Not only does this coating have great durability and a fantastic look, but it is also one of the simplest glass coatings to apply among all those on the detailing market. Unfortunately many companies in the industry try to hide design flaws by saying that the coating has to be difficult to apply to be good ... and that can only be far from the truth!

Before we start with the instructions on how to properly apply a glass or quartz coating, let's take a quick look at what they are.

What are glass / quartz / ceramic coatings, and are they worth applying?

The glass coating, the quartz coating, the ceramic coating, call them what you want, but the fact is, they are the new face of automotive protection.

We now have new technologies at our disposal in the detailing industry that significantly increase the duration of protection by 12, 24 or 72 months (real). These new technologies are available in the form of semi-permanent coatings that provide a final barrier between the paint and the external elements your car is exposed to every day.

Not only do these coatings provide a protective barrier, but they add shine and depth to the paint, making subsequent vehicle cleaning much easier, preventing dirt and other contaminants from adhering to the surface.

How to apply UltraCoat One Ceramic Coating on your car,

We list all the products you need, as well as all the considerations to take.

Even if there is no need to polish the car, it is always best to do so, in order to remove any scratches, swirls or any other imperfections that prevent it from having an absolute shine.Applying your coating on a machine that has not been fully polished works .. but it will not be able to express its full potential!

Required material (if not already combined with the product):

How to proceed:

The UltraCoat One coating can be applied directly on all external surfaces.

  1. The surface must be dry and free from contamination or dust.
It is therefore essential to perform a good washing , decontamination and possibly polishing with the greatest possible care.
We also recommend using D2 Check diluted 1: 4 before application of the protective product, in order to eliminate any residual oil / filler and dirt from the surface.
  2. Using the applicator supplied, proceed with a Cross-Patch movement on an area of 50x50cm, taking care to spread the product evenly.
  3. Let the product rest for 1-2 minutes (wait the rainbow effect )
  4. Remove excess product with a cloth and finish with a second cloth.
  5. Allow the ceramic to dry on the surface for at least 12 hours (assuming an ambient temperature of 20 ° C) before letting it come into contact with water.
  6. Do not wash the car for at least 72 hours, we recommend waiting 7 days.

N.B. To increase the GLOSS and the WATER REPELLENCE it is possible to stratify with UltraCoat Hydro Hd after 4 hours.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR TREATMENT EFFECTIVE.

Nanotechnological sealants and coatings have great durability characteristics and do not require particular maintenance during their activity, if you do not carefully follow the washing instructions.
It is possible to increase the silky sensation and the gloss of these products through coating boosters ("Booster" from the English "supporter") such as H2O Coat or UltraCoat Splash also apply W1 Quick Detailer after washing to keep the aesthetic result of your treatments always to the maximum.

If we wanted to go into the details of a particularly careful maintenance of the sealant and ceramic:

  1. At the first wash follow the cyclic Innovacar treatment by Fra-Ber:
First phase - double cleaning: with SP1 Prewash and S2 Foamy (or S1 Wash & Coat ).
Second phase - double protection: having already applied the Innovacar coating by Fra-Ber, continue with H20 Coat for drying with water veil and on the dry machine apply SC0 Hydro Sealant or SC1 Sealant , if not already applied previously.
  2. For subsequent washes, repeat step 1 without reapplying SC1 or SC0, but use with the machine dry W1 Quick Detailer or Glossy .
  3. At least once between the 3rd and 5th washing proceed as follows:
First phase - double cleaning: SP1 Prewash and then to purify the surface and decontaminate it use the shampoo DS Scale
Second phase - continuing with the double protection, continue with H20 Coat for drying with a water veil.
  4. In this case it is not necessary to reapply SC0 or SC1 having already been applied to the first washing, but to use for the finishing W1 Quick Detailer or Glossy .

Repeat the complete maintenance cycle from point 1 starting from the eighth wash or approximately every 4 months.

REPEAT APPLICATION.

In the case of sealants since they do not create "build-up" it is important to reapply a new treatment before the previous one has completely vanished in order to guarantee continuous protection.
Indicatively we suggest the reapplication at the arrival of each new season (4 times a year) or after 6/8 washes.
Advising precise and equal times for all cases is difficult as the factors that influence the the duration of the treatment is varied, ranging from the distance traveled to the climatic conditions, from the quality of the preparation of the paint to the treatment to the frequency of washing together with the type of shampoo used and, no less fundamental, the place where the car is stored (in the garage or outside).
While for ceramic , in order to reapply a new protection we recommend polishing your car
